Ir . H. Suswono, MMA is an Indonesian politician from Tegal, Central Java. He is part of the Second United Indonesia Cabinet and has served as Minister of Agriculture in Indonesia since October 2009. He previously served as Vice Chairman of the Commission IV Parliament for the period 2004-2009 for the Prosperous Justice Party. Suswono is a member of the House of Representatives through the local Elections in Central Java.

HS Dillon was appointed as Special Envoy to the President of Indonesia for Poverty Alleviation in April 2011. He served as a member of the National Economic Committee (KEN) 2010-2012. He served as chair of ITBs 2004-2006, and now a member of the ITB (Bandung Institute of Technology) Board of Advisors and has been a member of the Washington-based International Policy Council on Agriculture Food and Trade since 2005. He also served on the Joint team on Corruption Eradication (Tim Gabungan Pemberantasan Tindak Pidana Korupsi) 2009-2013; he has also been serving as Co-Chair of the Advisory Board the Nature Conservancy Indonesia Program in February 2009. He served as Vice President Asian Society of Agricultural Economists, Seoul 1996-1999, and was a member of the Consultative Committee, Common Fund for Commodities, Amsterdam 1991-1992. He was the Chief Negotiator for Agriculture and Tropical Products in Indonesian Delegation to the Uruguay Round Negotiations 1988-1993. He earned his PhD in Agricultural Economics at Cornell University, New York in 1983, majoring in International Trade and Development.

Dr. Amelia P. Guevara is currently the Undersecretary (Vice Minister) for Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in the Philippines. She spearheads the crafting and implementation of the National R&D Agenda (NRDA) and oversees the administration of the Department’s Grants-in-Aid which supports local R&D programs/projects. She was the former Executive Director of the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development, a Sectoral Council of the DOST. During her term, she was able to put in place several priority R&D programs on emerging technologies like genomics, nanotechnology and biotechnology. Prior to her appointment at the DOST, Dr. Guevara was a Professor of Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman. She also served as Vice President for Academic Affairs of the UP System from 2005-2011 and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the UP Diliman from 1999-2005. Her research interests are on Natural Products Chemistry, Bioactive Compounds from Philippine Medicinal Plants particularly on anticancer, anti-inflammatory and anti-infectives.

Dr. Katinka Weinberger joined CAPSA as Director in October 2010. Katinka is an Agricultural Economist with a Doctoral Degree from the University of Kiel, Germany. Prior to joining CAPSA she held scientist positions at several research institutes such as the World Vegetable Center (AVRDC); Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR); and the Center for Development Research (ZEF). She has extensive experience in the management of R&D networks and has worked in South and South-East Asia, Eastern Africa and Latin America.

I am Dr. Gavino Isagani P. Urriza, Acting Chief of the National Soil and Water Resources Research Development Center for Hillyland Pedo-Ecological Zone (NSWRRDC) of the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), Department of Agriculture (DA) of the Philippines. I have 30 years of experience in government service as Technical Staff of the BSWM. My field of expertise include: Soil Conservation and Management; Soil Fertility Management and Rehabilitation; and I love working on basic and applied on-farm research. I am a License Agriculturist with 31 fruitful years of service; with Ph. D. in Environmental Science (Dissertation dealing with “Dynamics of Soil Erosion”) obtained from the University of the Philippines, Diliman; with Master’s Degree in Agriculture Major in Soil Science; with Bachelor Degree in Agriculture Major in Soil Science; with eight (8) local and international membership in associations; with Five (5) international publications; and Member and Chairman of several inter-agency committees in the Philippines.

Dr Trogele is now in his 11th year at FMC and currently serves as FMC Asia President and Vice President of FMC Agricultural Solutions, Asia. He over sees FMC’s far Asia Pacific Operations in 27 countries and the Asia Innovation Center in Shanghai. He has been a champion of both FMCs Seed Treatment, Biologicals, and sustainability efforts growing more food, with less, and smaller environmental impact.

Olivier Decamp (Ph.D.) has been with INVE Aquaculture since 2002. After starting as R&D scientist he has been Product Manager Health since 2007, focusing on the ongrowing Health segment since early 2013. Before joining INVE Aquaculture, he was affiliate Faculty at University of Hawaii at Manoa since January 2001, R&D scientist at the Oceanic Institute, Hawaii in 2000-01 focusing on intensive shrimp rearing systems and worked on a Postdoctoral Fellow in marine microbiology in Japan between 1996 and 2000. He received his PhD in Zoology from the University of Leicester, UK in 1996, and was Research Assistant at The Natural History Museum, London between 1990 and 1996. Olivier received his Degree in Biology from Namur University, in Belgium.

Hiroshi Kawakami is one of the Managing Executive Officer of Kubota Corporation, as well as the President of SIAM KUBOTA Corporation. Since 2010, he has been the Managing Executive Officer of Kubota Corporation, and has been the President of SIAM KUBOTA Corporation since 2012. After graduating from Keio-University in the faculty of technology, he joined Kubota Corporation in 1978. Through the experience of the General Manager of Ryugasaki-Plant in 2004, the President of P.T.METEC SEMARANG, the General Manager of Utsunomiya-Plant in 2008, he became the president of SIAM KUBOTA Tractor Corp. (Current SIAM KUBOTA Corp.) in 2010.

Dr. Ir. Haryono is Head of the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD). He is also the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the National Genetic Resources, Vice Chairman of the National Bioethics Committee and a member of the Human Resources and Science and Technology Working Team on Borneo Economic Corridor Task Team. Dr. Haryono began his higher education at the Faculty of Agriculture, IPB, the Main Program Support Statistics and Agronomy, 1980 completed The Master of Science degree earned in 1987 from the Department of Computer Science, Western Michigan University, USA.

Henry Saragih is the General Coordinator for La Via Campesina. He has led the Indonesian Peasant Union and represented Via Campesina in many forums around the world. Via Campesina has a strong food sovereignty agenda and includes millions of small farmers around the globe. .

Moazzem is a lecturer at Griffith Business School in the Department of International Business and Asian Studies. He has published numerous articles, book chapters and 6 volumes with the UK based international publishing houses Routledge and Edward Elgar over the last 15 years. His current work focuses on future development issues of Asia in the era of global warming and uncertainty. Prior to joining Griffith, he worked for the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics. Moazzem holds a Master of Agricultural Development Economics from the Australian National University and a PhD in agricultural economics from the University of Western Australia.

Dindo Campilan is director for Asia of the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), a CGIAR research institute for eco-efficient agriculture in smallholder systems of the tropics (www.ciat.cgiar.org). Previously, he was Asia regional science leader and senior food security & livelihood specialist for the International Potato Center (CIP). As senior social scientist, Dr. Campilan has researched and published on: agri-food resilience, value-chain action learning and multi-stakeholder R4D platforms. He holds a PhD in Agriculture and Environmental Science from Wageningen University, The Netherlands. He is currently based at the CIAT Asia regional office in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Amin Uddin has nearly 25 years of experience including nine in a senior management role designing, developing and implementing several livelihood programs focused on food and nutrition security, skills development and increasing women’s access to markets with multiple donors. As a Program Manager Amin has displayed strong leadership in leading diverse teams and ensuring smooth implementation of programs He has a sound expertise of Agriculture development approaches and their usage with a gender focus in the livelihoods context and vast experiences with Food and Nutrition security in Bangladesh Amin has a Master of Business Administration, Dhaka, Bangladesh. 2010 and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Honors), Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, Bangladesh 1998.

Mr. Beard has 27 years of international economic development, agriculture, value chain, food security, fund raising, performance monitoring and evaluation, disaster response and risk mitigation program management experience in The United States, Nepal, Ecuador, Panamá, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Colombia, Peru and Timor-Leste. Mr. Beard has experience in managing international development programs designed to assist low-income and displaced persons on the community level through grants, subcontracts and micro-finance lending and to engage them in setting local development, economic, value chain, and agriculture and food security priorities. Mr. Beard has coordinated rural bank credit and finance programs, and advised on free market development with USAID Panama. As Chief of Party for the Ecuador Northern Border Project he was in charge of grants and subcontracts for agricultural cooperatives in the horticulture, cacao and coffee value chains. As Program Manager for the Local Economic Development Program in Quito, Ecuador, Mr. Beard coordinated the provision of grants to small businesses and producers from six agricultural value chains to include cacao, coffee, grains, fruits, vegetables and seafood. In Colombia, Mr. Beard managed a USAID funded program for economic and community development, micro-finance lending, business training, and special projects to benefit displaced persons in Colombia. Mr. Beard currently has served for 2 1/2 years as the Chief of Party for the USDA funded Mud Crab & Fish Cultivation Project in Timor-Leste. He has lived in Latin America for 17 years, serving in both government and NGOs, and 5 years in Asia to include 2 1/2 years in Nepal as a Peace Corps volunteer working as a rural enterprise associate in the agricultural sector for a commercial bank. Mr. Beard is fluent in Spanish and speaks and reads Nepali, Portuguese, Bahasa Indonesia and Tetum (Timorese Language) at a medium level. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Affairs in Southeast Asian Studies from Ohio University, a Certificate in Economic Development from Ohio State University, and a Bachelor’s of Journalism from the University of Texas-Austin.

Dr James (Jim) M. Roshetko is a senior integrated natural resource management scientist with the World Agroforestry Centre. He is the Leader of the Centre’s Southeast Asia Trees and Market Unit, with more than 30 years of experience, including 17 years in Indonesia and 27 years in other parts of South and Southeast Asia. Jim currently serves as the senior team leader of the Agroforestry and Forestry in Sulawesi: Linking Knowledge to Action project, which is funded by the Department for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, Canada. His research and development interests focus on smallholders’ tree-based systems as viable agricultural and natural resource management systems that contribute significantly to achieving livelihoods’ security, local economic objectives and global environmental goals.

Francois Levesque started in April 1997 with Valley® Irrigation, the leading pivot manufacturer worldwide, covering responsibilities in the sales and marketing areas. In 2004, he took on the General Manager responsibility for the Western Europe and West Africa region, and from 2011 he additionally led the Eurasia region. He actively worked in developing the Valley product and distribution channel to meet grower and key customer expectations on their efficient irrigation investments, in both the mature and emerging markets covered by the region. In October 2013, he has been appointed Director of International Dealer development in order to globalize deliverables from the distribution channel to growers and lead the integration of new technologies. He has been instrumental in partnering with a global fertilizer manufacturer to promote fertigation techniques which will insure higher level of sustainability in the farming practices.

Cherdsak Virapat is currently Director-General of Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA). Before joining NACA, Mr. Virapat was the Executive Director of International Ocean Institute Headquarters (IOI HQ) in Malta during 2008-2014. He previously served as an officer of the Royal Thai Government for 27 years. He worked as a Fishery Biologist for the Department of Fisheries (DOF), Ministry of Agriculture & Cooperatives during 1981–1999. He was Chief of Small-Hold Aquaculture Development and Royal Initiatives Project Sub-Division, Fishery Engineering Division, DOF from 1999- 2002. He was appointed Director of IOI–Thailand Operational Centre by the Office of the Thai Marine Policy and Restoration Committee, Office of the Prime Minister, and worked voluntarily in this position during 2000–2008. He was also Head of the Public Sector Development Group, Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment, during 2003–2005 and Chief of International Coordination and Assistant Executive Director of Thailand's National Disaster Warning Center, Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Information & Communication Technology, during 2005–2008. He holds a B.Sc. in Fishery Management from Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand; an M.Sc. in Fishery Science from the University of Helsinki, Finland; and a Ph.D. in Fisheries Management from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. While serving the Government of Thailand, he received the decoration, namely; the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant and the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand. He was awarded the Elisabeth Mann Borgese Medal in 2014 in recognition of his leadership of the IOI throughout his term of office, during which the IOI capacity development programme was further developed and expanded regionally, globally, and at post graduate level, and for his unfailing support to the mission of the IOI and the legacy of the IOI Founder, Prof. Elisabeth Mann Borgese.

Eric Quincieu joined the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 2013 as a Water Resources Specialist in the Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture Division of the Southeast Asia Department. Eric has been working extensively for ADB and other development, private and public sector organizations in Asia since 2000. He has been involved in project planning, design, modeling and information systems, and administration of water resource management investment projects and non-lending services. This includes a long-term assignment on Loan 1479-INO: South Java Flood Control Sector Project addressing flood management, irrigated agriculture and drainage (from 2000 to 2005). Between 2007 and 2008, he served as a Renewable Energy Project Development Specialist to prepare a market analysis for clean development mechanisms in Indonesia. Between 2008 and 2012, he has been supporting ADB to formulate, process and administer a number of water sector, natural resources, and climate change loans, grants, and technical assistance in Indonesia. Eric is a French national and graduated from the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse, France with a Master in Environmental Sciences in 1998 and a Master of Water Resources Management in 1999.

Dr. Handewi Purwati is the Director of ICASEPS since 2010. ICASEPS is a research institution in which its mandate is to carry out agro-socioeconomic and agricultural policy analysis in Indonesia. The institution is technically under the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD) but organization structure is a subsidiary institution of the Secretariat General of Ministry of Agriculture (MoA). As a researcher Handewi prepares research proposals, collects data, analyses and interprets research data, writes research reports and disseminates research results in publications, seminars and workshops. As director of ICASEPS Handewi coordinates, synchronizes and formulates long term, short term and yearly research programs in ICASEPS based on dynamic agricultural development issues, to monitor and evaluate research implementation in order to get feed back for improvement in the next year research planning program, and to optimize all of ICASEPS’ resources (man, money, materials) for doing ICASEPS’ task.

Jozimo Santos Rocha is an entrepreneurial Agricultural Economist with over 12 years of international programming experience focused on increasing economic and financial inclusion for smallholder farmers. He offers an in-depth understanding of project lifecycles and strong technical capacity on extension of agricultural technologies; food security; value chains; and enterprise development. Working for International NGOs and UN Food and Agriculture Organization, Jozimo has led the design and implementation of multi-million agriculture and food security development projects in several Countries in Africa, Asia and Latino-America. Jozimo received a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the Adventist University of Chile, a Master Degree in Agricultural Economics from the Catholic University of Chile and is a Doctoral Candidate in Development Economics at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. He is a native of Brazil and with his wife Cecilia have been blessed with three children Isabella, Iker and Ian.

Mr. Ravi Muthayah is the Director of Agriculture in the Economic Planning Unit of The Prime Minister’s Department, Malaysia since 2013 and has served the organisation for 12 years. Currently, he foresees the nation’s agricultural planning and development programmes of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industries and Ministry of Plantations and Industrial Commodities. He was also directly involved in the Malaysian Five Year Planning Document, in the area of agriculture since 2003 and of recent in the formulation of the National Agro Food Policy and National Industrial Commodities Policy (2011-2020) which focuses on the policy and strategic development of the agro food and industrial commodities. He has served 25 years in the civil service in various capacities including in the Ministry of Finance and the Malaysian Intellectual Property Office. Mr. Muthayah holds a Bachelor of Economics (University of Malaya) degree and a Masters in Business Administration (University of Kobe, Japan). With his vast knowledge and experiences in the development of the agriculture sector, he is appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Malaysian Timber Industry Board, The Cocoa Board of Malaysia and The Pepper Board of Malaysia.

Dr. Shahbaz Khan is currently Deputy Director, UNESCO Regional Science Bureau for Asia and the Pacific at Jakarta Indonesia. Previously he was Chief of Water and Sustainable Development Section at UNESCO Division of Water Sciences based at Paris. His key leadership and management areas at UNESCO include capacity building and policy advice through coordination of programs such as Water Education for Sustainable Development, Hydrology for Environment, Life and Policy (HELP), Ecohydrology, MAB and Water and Energy Nexus.

Ms. Silvia Sartori Communication and Networking Expert, EU-funded SWITCH-Asia Programme Silvia has been working in the field of development and sustainability in Asia since 2005 in partnership with local and international NGOs, civil society organizations, international institutions, media and the private sector. In her current position at the Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP), she coordinates communication and networking amongst more than 80 SWITCH-Asia projects funded by the European Commission in 16 countries in the Region promote sustainable consumption and production. Silvia majored in International Diplomatic Sciences at Trieste University (Italy) and holds a Master’s Degree in SME Management & Development (IULM University, Italy) as well as a Master’s Degree in Asian Studies (Lund University, Sweden).

Thura Aung is the Director of Programme, Radanar Ayar Rural Development Association and Article 6 Focal Point to United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Recently, he has works with his leadership role in Facilitator at UN Major Group on Children and Young People under Open Working Group of UN General Assembly as facilitator for Post 2015 Development Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals 2030. He has 14 year career in development and humanitarian sectors especially on youth, climate change, rural development, public health and hunger, HIV/AIDS and food security principally in partnership with United Nations system and its CSO networks. He is a youth activist and his efforts in regional and national levels youth, education and policies formulations are remarkable. Thura Aung is a Scientist and public health specialist, an Independent Consultant of capacity building on Climate Change Education for Technical, Vocational Education and Training with UNESCO.

She is graduated from the University of Pelita Harapan, Jakarta with the Bachelor of Industrial Design with Cum Laude. She studied Mandarin in Beijing Union University, China and continue her study with her passion in acting in Central Drama Academy Beijing. Environmental issues is one of her main concentration during her social and activist works. Currently Olivia is working on a film that is set on the Komodo Island of Indonesia, this is her first debut as a film director. Kamila Andini Born on 14th of February 1975, Verania Andria is a Programme Manager for Sustainable Energy with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Indonesia, member of Board of Experts in Indonesia Renewable Energy Society (IRES) and consultant for Green Living with the Women’s Health magazine Indonesia. She worked at the Austrian Research Center and Renewable Energy Company in Vienna, Austria, prior to joining UNDP in 2009 and has always been active in civil society works since her university time. She graduated as Doctor in Environmental Biotechnology (with Excellent remark) from University of Natural Resources & Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria. She holds Diploma on Biosafety conducted by UNIDO and University of Chile, Bachelor and Master's degree from Biology Department, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Advocating issue on Access to Clean Energy for All is her concern to the right of the poor and to the environment.

Tantono Subagyo got his PhD degree in Agricultural Botany at Reading University, United Kingdom and PostDoctoral training from Cornell University. He starts his career as a Researcher at Research Institute for Estate Crops, Agency for Agriculture Research and Development, later become a Director at Office for Technology Transfer. In 2003 he worked for United Nation Environmental Programme as National Project Coordinator for Project of the Development of National Biosafety Framework for Indonesia. In 2008 he joined Syngenta as Regulatory Affair Manager and since 2013 he joined CropLife Asia as Seed Regulatory Director. He is doing various advocacy in advance technology adoptions especially in seeds and biotechnology, to alleviate food security in Asia especially in Indonesia. His expertise is in Technology Transfer, Intellectual Property Rights and Regulatory Affairs in Seed and Biotechnology.
